Detox diets seem to be all the rage as if they were something new. What is new is the amount of harmful toxic poisons we take into our bodies on a daily basis. The foods we eat, the air we breathe and the things we drink are too much for the body’s natural cleansing mechanisms to over come. This overwhelming toxic load eventually breaks down your health and you “GET” sick.
Detox diets have been around for many years. There are several different ones to choose from. The outcome is the same; reduce the amount of toxic stuff in your body. This will give your body a break from constantly having to break down and get rid of toxic waste. Your body will be able to spend more energy repairing itself.
Detox diets recommend decreasing the amount of foods that you eat containing ingredients such as; sugar, artificial sweeteners, white flour and other highly processed foods. Increasing intakes of fresh raw fruits, vegetables and drinking plenty of good clean water. This would be a great way to eat all of the time as well!
Some cleansing diets may also have specialized formulas to aid in the detox process. Many have specialized blends of herbs while others may have some vitamins and other organic compounds as well.
When performing any detox or cleansing diet, it is good to have a minimum amount of calories. Your body needs calories to function properly. Restricting calories may cause the organs you are depending on to cleanse the toxins to be sluggish. Always follow the instructions of any detox diet closely. Sometimes as toxins are being dumped you may not feel that great. However, a good detox diet should have warning signs to look for indicating that you need to quit the program.
We have only discussed detox or cleansing diets. There other methods of detoxing. Just remember to get the toxins out and decrease the amount going in. Your body will thank you for it.
